Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to go to camp?

RYLA campers are made up of high school juniors who attend a high school inside of Rotary District 5330s boundaries, which encompasses most of Riverside County and part of San Bernardino County.  If you happen to attend a high school and are a junior, then be sure to apply for camp with your local Rotary club representative. Every city has a Rotary club, and if you dont know where to find yours, please send us an email through this site, we will put you in contact with one.

How much does camp cost and do the campers have to pay?

RYLA costs $450 per student and is paid for in whole by your sponsoring Rotary club. The student has no out of pocket expense for the camp. We simply want you to come and enjoy the experience!

What should I bring to camp?

Go to the downloads page and open up the PDF “What to bring”.

How do I get to camp?

Transportation is provided for you. About two weeks before camp you will receive a letter in the mail from RYLA staff. On the letter will be an address and detailed instructions on where and when to meet the bus.  BEWARE, do not be late, the bus will not wait for you and if you miss the bus you cannot drive to camp. If you don’t receive your letter in the mail by 1 week out from camp, please contact us through this site.

Can my parents or friends visit me at camp?

NO!  Everyone at camp is thoroughly screened to insure your child is safe. We do not allow anybody on site during camp that hasn’t been through Rotary’s stringent live-scan process.   We encourage all campers to take as many photos as possible to share with friends and family immediately following the close of camp.

Will my cell phone work at camp?

We love this answer…. NOPE!  We are up in the mountains enjoying the crisp clean air of 5500′, and with that comes zero cell service.  Parents, don’t worry, there is a land line for emergencies that you or your child can be reached on. This number is staffed 24 hours a day in case of emergency and can be found on the bottom of the “What to bring to camp” sheet.
